The Center will nurture a new generation of leaders

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The Dalai Lama Center for Ethics
and Transformative Values at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology will
host its inaugural event on April 30, 2009 with His Holiness the Dalai Lama as
the speaker and featuring a benefit concert by Philip Glass. The Center aims
to nurture a new generation of self-aware, responsible and caring leaders who
have a sense of moral purpose at individual, community and global levels.

An inclusive and collaborative think tank, the Center will foster inquiry and
dialogue between scientists, technologists, policy-makers and religious
leaders concerning ethical responsibility and enlightened leadership. Nobel
Peace Laureates His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Betty
Williams are founding members. As one of four centers in the world to which
The Dalai Lama has lent his name, the Center hopes to create educational
programs that will transform the conversation about the global and long term
social, economic and environmental impact of the decisions being made by a new
generation of leaders.

"Economies and societies can no longer be thought of separately, for they are
intertwined in a global community," said Tenzin Gyatso, the XIVth Dalai Lama.
"Our actions as individuals and as societies affect not just ourselves but our
global neighbors. It is imperative that we contemplate and understand our
relationship to each other as individuals, as countries, and as inhabitants of
our planet."

The inaugural event takes place at the Kresge Auditorium on the MIT campus in
Cambridge, Massachusetts on April 29-30, 2009. Please visit the Center's
website at http://thecenter.mit.edu to become a sponsor. Tickets to the Philip
Glass benefit concert are available to the general public and available on the

during April which are free and open to the public and are listed on the
