FRANKFURT, April 20 (Reuters) - Aurubis (NAFG.DE) Chief Executive Bernd Drouven expects rising copper prices to help Europe's biggest copper smelter make an operating profit in its current fiscal year to Sept. 30, he told a German magazine.

"We think that copper prices will continue to move up and expect a positive operating result for 2008/09," he was quoted as saying by Euro in an interview released on Monday. The group had a net loss in its first quarter after writedowns. (Reporting by Michael Shields; editing by Simon Jessop)
