LAS VEGAS--(Business Wire)--
Harmonic Inc. (NASDAQ:HLIT) today announced that its Rhozet Carbon Coder
universal media transcoding solution will be integrated into the Aspera
high-performance file transfer environment. Aspera`s faspTM transport technology
enables the quick and efficient movement of large files over wide area networks
(WAN), delivering maximum transmission speed regardless of file size, transfer
distance or network conditions. The integration of Rhozet into Aspera workflows
allows users to further optimize delivery by specifying media transformations
that would be performed at either end of the transport pipeline.

"Easy integration with industry-standard media transformation is an important
addition to Aspera-enabled workflows," said Michelle Munson, Aspera Co-founder
and President. "Rhozet`s Carbon Coder provides our customers with a high-quality
and cost-effective transcoding engine, fully accessible and automatable from a
centralized transfer management interface."

In Media and Entertainment, Aspera solutions are installed at several of the
major Hollywood studios, post-production houses, broadcasters and other content
providers, as well as cable, satellite and on-demand media networks. These
customers will be able to use the Aspera Console management system to specify
automated transcodes as part of their delivery instructions. As an example,
files coming from the editorial process could be automatically transcoded into a
variety of formats such as broadcast, web and mobile, and then delivered to
their ultimate destinations with maximum bandwidth utilization. Each delivery
location receives only the media type that they need within predictable
timeframes, no bandwidth is wasted sending unnecessary data, and Aspera`s
adaptive transfer rate control ensures other network traffic is protected. Thus,
transformation and delivery become integrated processes in the larger enterprise
workflow.

Rhozet and Aspera customer Morgan Holly, Vice President at Ascent Media
commented, "Rhozet and Aspera are both best-of-breed technologies that Ascent
uses to create thousands of files per month and deliver them to customers around
the globe."

Rhozet Carbon Coder is used to facilitate the creation of multi-format video for
Internet, mobile and broadcast applications. Carbon Coder can run as a
stand-alone application or as part of a multi-node, fully-automated rendering
farm, providing high-performance, scalable and cost-effective transcoding for a
broad range of business environments, from specialized studios to
enterprise-scale installations.

The latest version of Carbon Coder will be demonstrated at NAB2009 in Las Vegas,
April 20-23, in the Rhozet booth #SL9728 and at the main Harmonic booth #SU7209.
