Extensible, Encryption Platform Protects Data Wherever It Exists
BALTIMORE--(Business Wire)--
SafeNet, Inc., a global leader in information security, now affiliated under
common management with Aladdin Knowledge Systems, today unveiled the industry`s
first extensible Enterprise Data Protection (EDP) Solution Suite designed to
reduce the cost and complexity of regulatory compliance, data privacy, and
information risk management for commercial and government organizations.

By using a foundation of data encryption to protect data itself, in combination
with comprehensive key and policy management, SafeNet EDP Solution Suite ensures
the privacy and control of data across databases, applications, file servers,
networks, and endpoint devices. This same foundation can be used for multiple
applications across the enterprise, so organizations can increase operational
efficiency, as well as their bottom line.

"Through encryption, organizations can enforce data and application access to
only authorized persons or entities that possess the unique key that unlocks the
data," said Joe Moorcones, corporate vice president and general manager,
Commercial EDP Division, SafeNet. "Since encryption follows the data no matter
what state it`s in - at rest, in transit, or in use-exposing it is a non-issue."

SafeNet EDP Solution Suite provides a framework and an integrated set of
products designed to ensure data security and compliance leveraging a common
platform upon which standards-based technology is deployed throughout an
organization. This unique SafeNet approach reduces the cost of compliance
reporting, auditing, and administration by as much as 25 percent according to
analysis by Churchill and Harriman, a leading information technology consulting
and risk mitigation firm.

"As organizations scramble to meet the succession of compliance mandates
governing the protection of sensitive data, they often react by implementing a
myriad of new IT controls and associated technologies that were not designed to
interoperate," said Ken Peterson, President and CEO, Churchill & Harriman. "This
piecemeal deployment scheme offers little protection, is complex, drives up
costs, and is ineffective in addressing compliance mandates and security threats
in the long term."

In addition to the compliance benefits, SafeNet EDP Solution Suite solves
complex data privacy issues. Today, data extends beyond the enterprise to widely
distributed locations and workforces, partners, outsourcing vendors, and shared
service providers. As this data is collected, shared, processed, and stored,
over increasingly complex networks, organizations face even greater risks of
data theft, loss, and leakage. Data leak protection and traditional perimeter
defenses do not adequately address these data protection pain points.

SafeNet EDP Solution Suite can be leveraged to address many of these pain points
with fewer appliances, thereby maximizing security investments and reducing
overhead costs. Deploying centralized key and policy management capabilities
means fewer resources-like database administrators-are required to manage. A
single point for monitoring and reporting simplifies processes for multiple
audit types, and requires fewer resources to maintain compliance reporting.

SafeNet EDP Solution Suite secures data in all states-at rest, in transit, and
in use- through the use of database and application data encryption, disk and
file encryption, centralized key management, network and WAN encryption, and
two-factor authentication.

The Company will showcase its EDP Solution Suite at booth (2325) at RSA
Conference 2009, April 20 -23 in San Francisco, Calif.
