Leading Broadcasters Use Isilon IQ Storage to Accelerate Digital Media
Production

The Score and TVA Deploy Scale-out NAS to Speed Creation and Delivery of
Content, Expanding Broadcast Revenue Opportunities

SEATTLE, April 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Isilon(R) Systems (Nasdaq: ISLN),
the proven leader in scale-out NAS, today announced that The Score Television
Network and TVA have adopted Isilon's scale-out NAS solutions to unify their
digital broadcasting workflows and maximize revenue opportunities associated
with the proliferation and diversification of media content formats and
delivery channels. Working with Isilon channel partner Applied Electronics,
the broadcasters deployed Isilon IQ - which creates a single, high
performance, highly scalable shared pool of storage - to accelerate workflow
productivity and time-to-delivery while reducing capital and operational
expenditures.

The Score is a leading sports-only television network, providing sports, news,
information, highlights and live event programming to more than 6.4 million
homes across Canada. Prior to using Isilon scale-out NAS, The Score's
tape-based storage system was unable to provide consistent, immediate access
to its content archive, slowing production and delivery across its many
distribution mediums. With Isilon IQ, The Score has created a single, highly
scalable repository for the majority of its broadcast content, significantly
increasing workflow efficiency while reducing storage management costs.

"As consumer demand for an expanding range of professional sports content
continues to grow, so too does the public's desire to access this content
through a wide variety of formats," said Oliver Gayagoy, vice president of
broadcast and information technology, The Score. "At The Score, we strive to
meet this need through our multiple delivery channels, which means our storage
solution has to support instantaneous, fault tolerant content access and
on-demand scalability. Using Isilon, we can utilize content reliably and
quickly, enabling us to better meet consumer demand and expand our revenue
opportunities."

TVA is Canada's leading French-Canadian private broadcasting company,
providing standard- and high-definition French-language programming across
Canada. TVA's previous, tape-based content archive created unnecessary
content silos and prevented TVA from unifying its content acquisition,
editing, and play-out workflow onto a single storage architecture. By
deploying Isilon IQ, TVA has created a central content repository powering all
media acquisition and editing operations, accelerating its production workflow
while providing an immediately accessible staging area for media delivery.

"Our production workflow is unique in its use of internally created
French-language content, as well as externally acquired content repurposed for
our French-speaking audience," said Richard Baril, director of engineering,
TVA. "From initial ingest, through editing, to play-out, we simply can't
afford downtime or delays if we are to deliver content in step with consumer
demand. Isilon enables us to significantly accelerate our content acquisition
and editing operations, allowing us to do more with less and stay ahead of
changes in viewers' tastes."

"We are currently witnessing a sea change in the way digital media is being
created, managed, and delivered and consequently, new technologies are
required to meet the insatiable demands of today's media consumer," said Jim
Goessinger, manager of sales and marketing, Broadcast & Post Production,
Applied Electronics. "Isilon IQ scale-out NAS is designed specifically to
meet the unique demands of digital content creation, editing and delivery,
making it an ideal solution for next-generation broadcasters looking to
extract maximum value from their content."
