CAMPBELL, CA, Apr 20 (MARKET WIRE) --
Exalt Communications, a leading provider of high performance licensed and
license-exempt microwave radio microwave radio systems, announced today
that the Grundy County, Illinois, Emergency Telephone System Board (ETSB)
has deployed Exalt EX-5r-c and EX-4.9i point-to-point radio systems to
provide critical voice and data links for the fire, police and emergency
medical personnel serving the 50,000 residents of this Chicago suburb.

"Our existing microwave links didn't give us the capacity and throughput
we needed, so we looked for alternatives," said Chris Kindelspire,
electronics manager for Grundy County ETSB. "We chose Exalt because of
its strong reputation for carrier grade microwave systems and its
guaranteed throughput. The systems have worked flawlessly for us."

The county's EX-4.9i system carries four T1 lines and 55 Mbps of Ethernet
data over a distance of 12 miles. Their EX-5r-c system supports four T1
lines for 911 telephone service as well as 100 megabits per second (Mbps)
of Ethernet data for the county's computer-aided dispatch system over a
distance of six miles. Should network traffic increase, Grundy County
easily can upgrade the EX-5r-c system to 200 Mbps aggregate Ethernet
throughput.

"Public safety organizations need bullet-proof connectivity for critical
services and Exalt CarrierTDD systems are the only TDD radios that
guarantee throughput under all conditions," said Amir Zoufonoun, CEO of
Exalt. "Customers with mission-critical requirements like Grundy County
ETSB are increasingly turning to Exalt for cost-effective microwave radio
systems that offer high performance and high reliability in both
license-exempt and licensed radio bands."

All Exalt radio systems --
licensed and license-exempt -- are carrier-class systems offering
guaranteed link availability, guaranteed throughput availability and low,
constant latency. Designed to enable a smooth transition to IP, they
offer native support for both TDM and Ethernet and are fully software
configurable and upgradeable. For easy and secure management using
third-party network management systems, Exalt systems support SNMP v1,
v2c and v3. Data security is provided by available FIPS-197 compliant AES
128-bit and 256-bit encryption that adds zero latency to the
transmission. To simplify installation and maintenance, all Exalt systems
feature an embedded manual and most include a built-in spectrum analyzer.
