SANTA CLARA, CA, Apr 20 (MARKET WIRE) --
Aerohive Networks, creators of the award-winning cooperative wireless LAN
(WLAN) architecture, today announced that InformationWeek, an
industry-leading source of news, analysis, and perspective for business
technology executives, has selected Aerohive for this year's "Startup 50"
editorial feature. The "Startup 50" list recognizes technology startups,
each less than five years old, that have developed the most innovative
and compelling products or services for the business market. The startups
were evaluated for innovation, value, and enterprise-readiness. The
"Startup 50" feature, published today, is available at
www.informationweek.com.
"We're honored to have been recognized by the InformationWeek editors for
the prestigious 'Startup 50' list," said David Flynn, chief executive
officer, Aerohive. "We're looking forward to delivering exceptional value
to the wireless LAN marketplace through continued technical innovation in
2009 and beyond."
Since the company's 2007 launch and introduction of its cooperative
wireless LAN architecture, Aerohive has been a pioneer and innovator in
the enterprise wireless LAN market. Aerohive's cooperative architecture
requires no network controllers or overlay networks. Instead, software in
the Aerohive access points (HiveAPs) enables them to self-organize into
groups called hives. The result is a secure multi-service wireless LAN
infrastructure that is able to support a vast array of wireless devices,
application types, and service levels, with faster client performance,
wire-like resilience, and lower capital and operational costs.
Earlier this year, Aerohive introduced Dynamic Airtime Scheduling, an
innovative new feature that dramatically improves wireless LAN performance
by measuring each client's instantaneous data rate and airtime use and
scheduling airtime based on IT-specified policies. It can be used to
ensure that fast clients, such as 802.11n clients, aren't slowed down by
lower-speed clients, and it can enforce IT-specified policies to ensure
that critical applications and users receive adequate airtime.
