Programs Include EPA`s SmartWay Transport Certification, Innovative Low-Emission
Trucks, Reusable Shipping Containers
ATLANTA--(Business Wire)--
MailExpress Inc., the leading provider of performance mail solutions for
corporate customers nationwide, today announced that the company has completed
the process of becoming a certified "SmartWay Transport" partner with the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). In conjunction with the EPA certification
process, MailExpress has also launched a number of environmentally friendly
initiatives and green business practices.

Created in 2004, the EPA`s SmartWay Transport is an innovative collaboration
between EPA and the transportation industry designed to improve energy
efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions, and improve
energy security. As a SmartWay partner, MailExpress commits to improve the
environmental performance of their operations by giving preferential
consideration to other progressive transportation partners that have adopted
fuel-efficient, environmentally friendly practices and technologies.

In addition to the EPA certification, MailExpress launched a program to replace
the company`s fleet of trucks with low-emission vehicles. Working with
alternative fuel solution provider CleanFUEL USA, MailExpress recently tested an
innovative 26-foot Liquid Propane Injection (LPI) truck, putting the first truck
in service last month; the success of the pilot is expected to result in rapid
expansion of the program throughout the company`s nationwide operating network.
The program will utilize a variety of alternative fuel vehicles as the company
takes advantage of partnerships with other forward thinking transportation
providers.

Further extending its commitment to environmentally friendly business practices,
MailExpress also designed a custom-made reusable container to transport
shipments between the 18 MailExpress operating facilities strategically located
across the nation. Replacing previous cardboard containers - which can only be
used for a single transport before being recycled - the new containers can be
reused approximately 40 times before being recycled. MailExpress started testing
the new containers by putting 1,500 in service and has since commissioned an
additional 1,500 containers, with many new orders expected going forward.

"As a transport company responsible for shipping large volumes of mail and light
parcels throughout the country, we realized that MailExpress has not only the
opportunity, but also an obligation, to find new, environmentally friendly ways
of doing business," commented Rick Rover, executive vice president of operations
for MailExpress. "A relative industry newcomer, MailExpress was built from the
ground up using the most advanced logistics and transportation technologies in
the industry. By adopting these green technologies and becoming an EPA SmartWay
Transport partner, we aim to extend our commitment to operational excellence by
working with other forward-thinking partners to do our part to minimize our
carbon footprint and build a sustainable future for generations to come."
