Powerful Real-Time Analysis, Enhanced Search and Automatic Audio Classifiers Add
to Industry-Leading Performance for Speech Applications
ATLANTA--(Business Wire)--
Nexidia, the market-leading provider of audio search and speech analytics
solutions, today announced the release of Workbench 6.0, the next generation of
the company`s core software development environment. As the foundation for all
of Nexidia`s applications - currently in use by hundreds of customers worldwide,
including call center operators, government & regulatory organizations and rich
media providers - Workbench 6.0 builds on the company`s patentedphonetic
indexing and search technology, with new features and improved processing
performance that demonstrate the company`s strength in developing speech
analytics solutions that address real business requirements.

Coupling internal research and development with direct customer feedback,
Nexidia has added a number of new features into Workbench 6.0, including:

* Powerful Real-Time Analysis - Building on Nexidia`s unprecedented scalability
for audio processing, Workbench 6.0 Nexidia introduces a new scanning engine
which can now simultaneously monitor and search up to 1000 audio streams in
real-time on a single server. As a result, high volume applications can be
developed to capture and analyze audio directly from the switching environment,
bypassing the need to use legacy call logging equipment. With a low-latency
response of only 800 milliseconds, contact centers can tie this feature to their
internal knowledge base and automatically provide guidance to a customer
representative while a call is ongoing, resulting in more efficient handling,
lower costs and improved customer service.
* Automatic Search Enhancement - Searching multiple sources of audio presents a
challenge because the differences in the quality of recordings - such as the
encoding characteristics used or the level of background noise present - can
impact search precision. Workbench 6.0 now includes a system that automatically
detects the characteristics in both the recordings and the search terms and
defines the parameters that will deliver the most relevant results. This
benefits users who work with ad hoc search tools and provides improved accuracy
of search results with a simplified user interface and easier query building.
* Automatic Audio Classification - With Workbench 6.0, a broad set of
capabilities can now identify specific characteristics that further classify and
segment media, including the languages being spoken and other non-speech
activity present. Language ID, which was introduced in Nexidia`s AudioFinder
application, will automatically determine which languages are being spoken in a
recording and identify the segments of each language. Non-speech classifiers
will detect the presence of music, silence, or other non-spoken activity, which
can help identify reasons for excessive call lengths, plus add valuable metadata
to rich media content. In addition, gender detection will segment recordings
into different categories based on the gender of the primary speakers.
* Improved Transcript Sync - From more efficient editing of feature films to
preparing video depositions for trial, there are many applications for Nexidia`s
patented process that synchronizes media content with its associated script.
Transcript Sync automatically locates and accurately time aligns transcripts
with words spoken in audio and video recordings. Newly enhanced to locate
incomplete or poorly matching text within the audio, the resulting time-aligned
text enables customers to leverage closed-captioning, pre-edit scripts and
producer notes, providing jump-to navigation and text based editing within more
content.

As a critical component to the new features in Workbench 6.0, Nexidia has more
than doubled the performance of its patented audio indexing function. Nexidia
can now index recorded content up to 207 times faster than real-time per CPU
core, breaking the company`s previous benchmark indexing speed of 83 times
faster than real-time. At these speeds, customers are able to fully index well
over 20,000 hours of content per day on a single server, which provides
significantly lower costs for customers with large volumes of contact center
calls or other media content to review and analyze.

"Nexidia`s research scientists are directly involved in developing not only our
core capabilities, but also the applications that utilize them," commented John
Willcutts, president and CEO of Nexidia Inc. "As our new features in Workbench
6.0 show, our innovations are guided by working closely with customers across
all our markets, to deliver real business value that impacts their bottom line."
