Local Businesses Hope to Inspire Others to Help Orange County Food Bank
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- A group of local merchants
has pooled its resources to hold an area food drive to benefit the Orange
County Food Bank. Donations will be accepted from April 20-24, 2009, at
various businesses in the vicinity of the Costco Plaza on Newhope Street and
Talbert Avenue. The goal of the Community Cares Food Drive is to show how
simple it is to start a food drive in one area that hopefully inspires other
communities to do the same to help out less fortunate people in our own
backyard.

"We were able to put together a weeklong food drive involving many of our
fellow businesses in a very short amount of time," said Janet Marlow, human
resources representative, Kingston(R). "Kingston arranged with the OC Food
Bank ahead of time to deliver and pickup food collection bins. We then went
out with pre-printed flyers and information to visit many of the businesses in
our area. Aside from being a great way to meet our neighbors, everyone was
eager and willing to help out. It took about only four hours to go
door-to-door and enlist the help of many area merchants. This is a perfect
example of people working together during these tough times. We can only hope
this simple idea spreads to other communities."
The most needed items are:
