UofL Announces 2009 Fulbright Scholars

LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Six University of
Louisville students and a recent UofL graduate will travel abroad this year to
teach and conduct research as Fulbright scholars. They are:

    --  Selene Black of Custer, Ky., a senior Spanish major who will work with
        students in Argentina on a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship
    --  Brian Hoffman of Edgewood, Ky., a 2008 UofL graduate with degrees in
        political science and economics who will visit Malaysia on a Fulbright
        Research Grant
    --  Wojciech Kapalczynski of Louisville, a second-year medical student who
        will go to Poland on a Fulbright Research Grant
    --  Ashley Kim of Louisville, a senior political science major who will
head
        to South Korea on a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship
    --  Monica Marks of Rush, Ky., a senior majoring in women and gender
        studies, political science and philosophy who will visit Turkey on a
        Fulbright Research Grant
    --  Colin Ogilvie of Liberty, Mo., a senior liberal studies major who will
        go to Brazil on a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship


    --  Carl Williams of Lexington, Ky., a senior political science major who
        will visit Taiwan on a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship



Since 2003, UofL students and alumni have won 34 Fulbright awards, more than
any other Kentucky university. The federally-sponsored program makes 7,000
grants available each year to scholars in 155 nations based on academic merit
and leadership potential.
