Natura World Celebrates Earth Day with Mattress Giant's 2009 Sustainability Program

Natura World, a Canadian manufacturer based in Cambridge, Ontario, has partnered
with Mattress Giant, North America`s fifth largest bedding retailer to promote
their mutual Sustainability Programs. Natura`s collection of eco-friendly
pillows will be featured on-line and in Mattress Giant`s 369 retail locations.
Nine of Natura`s eco-friendly pillows have been selected, each one incorporating
a blend of natural and green materials, with one even made from post-consumer

efforts to reduce waste, Natura developed an in-house process to shred latex
from latex ends for use in pillow cores, reducing latex clogging up landfills.
Natura is also the only wool mattress/bedding manufacturer in North America to
card its own wool (brushing raw fibres to prepare them for textiles), which cuts
down on cross-contamination and transportation costs.

Some of Mattress Giant`s sustainability initiatives include recycling all its
waste such as plastic and cardboard from mattress packaging in 7 of 10 Mattress
Giant distribution centers, saving approximately 35 tons per month. It also
recycles wood in three distribution centers, which adds up to about 5,000 pounds
per month and has saved approximately 16,200 pounds of plastic annually by
reducing the thickness of its plastic which protects its mattresses when
shipping.
