Pacific Alliance Bank Announces First Quarter Results

ROSEMEAD, Calif.--(Business Wire)-- Pacific Alliance Bank (OTCBB:PFBN) is pleased to announced today its first quarter 2009 results, with highlights as follows: * Total Assets increased by $37.6 million to $91 million, or 70.53% growth from $53.3 million at March 31, 2008. * Loans outstanding increased by $22.5 million to $51 million, or 79.2% increased from $28.5 million at March 31, 2008. * Deposits grew by 98.7% to $73.7 million from $37.1 million at March 31, 2008. * Provision for loan losses was $435,000 for the quarter, with allowance for loan losses to total loans at 3.36%. * As of March 31, 2009, one SBA 7a loan was on nonaccrual, with principal amount of $437,000 (75% SBA guaranteed). * The Bank continued to be categorized as "well-capitalized" under the regulatory guidelines, with Tier 1 leverage capital ratio of 13.08%, Tier 1 risk-based capital ratio of 19.59%, and Total risk-based capital ratio of 20.87%. The 1st Quarter operating loss ($760,000) was higher than the same period 2008 result of ($374,000), due to a higher expense provision for loan loss of $435,000 vs. $39,000, respectively. Looking forward, this higher expense provision may become available to support future loan growth. The 1st Quarter 2009 net loss was ($723,000) or (44 cents) per share, including a one time securities gain of $37,000 vs. ($374,000) or (23 cents) per share in 2008, with $0 securities gain.
