TORONTO, ONTARIO, Apr 20 (MARKET WIRE) --
Over the next two days, WWF-Canada and Loblaw will hold joint press
conferences in select cities across Canada to announce a national rollout
of the five cent charge for plastic bags in Loblaw stores, along with a
three-year, $3 million commitment to WWF-Canada focused on footprint
reduction.

WWF-Canada is available to comment on:

    1. The impact of Loblaw's plan to divert 1 billion plastic bags from
landfill

    2. Top 10 actions Canadians can take on Earth Day and every day to help
the planet

    Background Information:

The goal of the partnership between WWF-Canada and Loblaw is to inspire
one million Canadians to take part in collective action for the planet
through simple, selected behaviours that are measurable and build
community.

As detailed in WWF's Living Planet Report, Canadians have one of the
largest footprints in the world, consuming three times our share of
natural resources. WWF-Canada understands the importance of working
towards a more sustainable lifestyle and mobilizing Canadians has become
a top priority for WWF-Canada.

Encouraging Canadians to choose reusable bags over plastic bags is the
first in a series of targeted campaigns over the next three years focused
on specific actions to lower individual footprint.

    Note to editors:

WWF-Canada's Share it! program (wwf.ca/shareit) will be live as of noon
on Tuesday, April 21.
