BOARD CHANGES

Alliance Trust PLC today announces that David Deards is stepping down from his
role as Finance Director of Alliance Trust PLC with effect from 30 April.

The Board would like to thank David for his contribution during his time at
Alliance Trust and wishes him well for the future.

The recruitment process for a replacement Finance Director is currently
underway, and a further announcement will be made as soon as this process has
been completed.

Alliance Trust has announced its preliminary results for the year ended 31
January 2009 this morning.
