Broadpoint Expands Equity Research Offering

Internet & Video Game Analyst Ben Schachter, Hardware Analyst Brian Marshall,
Software Analyst Yun Kim Join Firm

Broadpoint AmTech, Inc., a broker-dealer subsidiary of Broadpoint Securities
Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:BPSG) renamed after Broadpoint`s purchase of American
Technology Research in October 2008, today announced the hiring of three senior
research analysts to deepen its leading technology research offering for
institutional investors. Ben Schachter, Brian Marshall and Yun Kim have joined
the firm from UBS, Jefferies Asset Management and Pacific Growth, respectively.

Mr. Schachter joins the firm to cover the internet and video games sectors. At
UBS, he was consistently ranked among the top internet analysts in Institutional
Investor surveys. Before joining UBS in 2000, Mr. Schachter founded an internet
company specializing in real estate services. He holds an MBA in Finance from
the Johnson School at Cornell University and a BA in Near Eastern Studies from
Cornell University.

Mr. Marshall joins the firm to cover the hardware and enterprise storage
sectors. Previously, he ran a global TMT (telecoms, media, and technology)
long/short fund at Jefferies Asset Management. Prior to Jefferies, Mr. Marshall
was at D.E. Shaw Group and Citadel, responsible for the management of global TMT
investments. From 1999 to 2002, he was a senior sell-side analyst covering
semiconductors for JPMorgan (formerly Hambrecht & Quist).

Mr. Kim joins Broadpoint AmTech from Pacific Growth to expand the firm`s
software coverage. Prior to Pacific Growth, he covered the software sector at AG
Edwards. Before joining the sell-side, he was employed at Accenture.
