LONDON, April 20 (Reuters) - European shares extended losses early on Monday as Wall Street futures fell following six weeks of gains on both sides of the Atlantic.

At 0929 GMT, the FTSEurofirst 300 .FTEU3 index of top European shares was down 1.8 percent at 799.67, having touched a day's low of 797.97.

BNP Paribas (BNPP.PA), Banco Santander (SAN.MC), Deutsche Bank (DBKGn.DE), and HSBC (HSBA.L) fell between 3.5 and 4.4 percent. Banks have gained sharply in recent days, following better-than-expected results from the major U.S. players.

Futures for the Dow Jones DJc1, S&P 500 SPc1 and Nasdaq NDc1 were down between 1.2 and 1.3 percent, ahead of results from Bank of America (BAC.N).
