US STOCKS SNAPSHOT-Wall St slides on bank jitters

 NEW YORK, April 20 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks closed lower on
Monday, sliding after Bank of America reported an increase in
troubled loans and reignited concerns over the state of the
banking industry and the economy.
 * Oracle offers to buy Sun Microsystems.
 * The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI fell 289.36
points, or 3.56 percent, to 7,841.97. The Standard & Poor's 500
Index .SPX slid 37.01 points, or 4.26 percent, to 832.59. The
Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC dropped 64.86 points, or 3.88
percent, to 1,608.21.
