KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 (Reuters) - Malaysia's national car maker Proton Holdings PROT.KL is looking to inject its distribution operations into listed car dealer Edaran Otomobil Nasional (EON) EONK.KL, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Proton will get EON shares for injecting its distribution arm Proton Edar Sdn Bhd into EON, the Edge Financial Daily said, citing unnamed sources.

Officials from Proton and EON were not immediately available for comment.

The exercise is part of a bigger plan to consolidate the Malaysian car industry, said the newspaper.
