Cerberus mulls buying 25 percent stake in Opel: paper
FRANKFURT |
FRANKFURT (Reuters) - U.S. private equity firm Cerberus, which controls the majority in Chrysler, is considering acquiring a 25 percent stake in GM's cash-strapped German carmaker Opel, German daily Rheinische Post reported.
The Cologne-based newspaper cited government sources.
It also reported that Fiat was considering taking a stake as well after contacts were forged through Roland Berger, a well-known German consultant that sits on Fiat's board of directors who has been tasked by GM to help find an investor for Opel.
Both Cerberus and Opel declined to comment on the report.
