GM tumbles on report it won't make debt payment

NEW YORK | Wed Apr 22, 2009 2:21pm EDT

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Shares of General Motors Corp (GM.N) slid more than 5 percent to $1.61 -- a session low -- on the New York Stock Exchange after the Wall Street Journal reported that the beleaguered U.S. automaker will not make a June 1 debt payment of $1 billion.
