TAIPEI, April 29 (Reuters) - Acer Inc (2353.TW), the world's No. 3 computer maker, on Wednesday said it expects its portable computer shipments to rise 30-40 percent in the second half of this year, amid strong growth for its netbook business.

The company said the forecast applies to its combined shipments of traditional notebooks and low-cost netbooks, but did not provide a breakdown.

Earlier in the day, Acer said it expected to ship 10 million to 12 million netbook PCs this year, compared with its previous forecast of 12 million to 15 million.
