Company-wide Volunteerism Initiative Supports Youth Worldwide
NEW YORK--(Business Wire)--
New York Life Insurance Company announced today that May 1 will mark the
beginning of the company`s first Global Month of Service, when thousands of
agents and employees will join with their families, neighbors and community
groups to volunteer with local organizations that support disadvantaged youth in
the United States, Asia and Latin America.

"These are extraordinarily challenging times for so many people around the
world. At New York Life, just as our financial strength is a bulwark for
customers at times like these, our people around the world want to provide their
strength and support to those in our communities in greatest need," said Ted
Mathas, president and chief executive officer of New York Life. "As a life
insurer, we're in the business of being there for people when they need us. Our
Global Month of Service is an opportunity for the entire New York Life family to
work together to extend the scope of that mission and show the world that
humanity is very much a part of who we are as a Company."

The theme of New York Life`s first Global Month of Service, Supporting Youth
Worldwide, is in keeping with the New York Life Foundation's philanthropic
mission of "Nurturing the Children" and builds on the company`s successful
volunteer programs. Volunteers will work closely with local organizations to
help improve the lives of disadvantaged children and help them fulfill their
potential. Members of the New York Life family throughout the United States,
Mexico, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Thailand, and South Korea will be
participating.

"Our 20,000 agents and employees throughout the United States have a rich
tradition of giving back to their communities through philanthropy and
volunteerism," said Executive Vice President Mark W. Pfaff in charge of U.S.
Life Insurance and Agency for New York Life. "With over 70 volunteer projects
taking place across the country in May, the Global Month of Service is a great
way to build on this year-round commitment and make a lasting impact on the
communities we serve."
