Head of Programs for Developmentally Disabled Honored for Public Service,
Personal Commitment on Eve of New Facility Opening in Pittsburg
MARTINEZ, Calif.--(Business Wire)--
RES SUCCESS Founder and Executive Director Ian Bremner today was named the
recipient of a Jefferson Award in the San Francisco Bay Area region, in honor of
his tireless commitment to education and training of individuals with
developmental disabilities.

The mission of the Jefferson Awards is to encourage and honor individuals for
their achievements and contributions through public and community service;
awards are given on both a national and local level.

Bremner oversees three RES SUCCESS centers, two in Martinez which serves 20 and
30 clients, respectively; and one in Pleasant Hill which serves 45. The centers
provide education, training and a daytime community structure for adults with a
range of developmental disabilities, from mild to profound. He has just
completed construction of a fourth location in Pittsburg at 2980 Railroad
Avenue, scheduled to open next month, which will serve between 60 and 70
clients.

Bremner, with the help of family and friends, created the RES SUCCESS model in
Contra Costa County in 1994, after working for several years in Bay Area
organizations such as Advocacy for Respect and Commitment for Citizens with
Developmental Disabilities in San Francisco and Opportunity for Independence in
Marin County. He is known for his success in educating and training the
developmentally disabled population, teaching individuals life and vocational
skills which foster more fulfilling and independent lives.

"The secret to Ian`s success is his approach to his clients," says Gina
Jennings, Executive Director of the Developmental Disabilities Council of Contra
Costa County. "He has a philosophy of great compassion and respect, which in
turn nurtures their positive behavior and ability to learn, share and contribute
- ultimately bringing a sense of dignity and meaning to their lives,"she adds.

Bremner offers two distinct programs, Community Inclusion & the Arts for adults
with significant cognitive impairment; and College & Professional Development,
for adults with mild to moderate disability. RES SUCCESS` two Martinez
facilities work with moderate to profoundly disabled clients; the Pleasant Hill
facility comprises mild to moderate clients, some of whom attend classes at
nearby Diablo Valley College.

Bremner explains that the new two-story Pittsburg facility will offer both
programs and partner with Los Medanos College for classes and recreational
facilities. He adds that in building the new structure with its many "green"
features, such as solar panels, recycled furniture and refurbished computers
previously destined for landfill, along with flash water heating, he became
inspired to add a curriculum of green facts and technologies, noting that this
is a projected growth area for jobs that many of his clients could fill. "Just
imagine that these individuals with developmental disabilities, who are so often
devalued and discarded in our society, might become the new experts and leaders
on green procedures for our community - teaching us how we can be greener in our
offices, our home and our outdoor spaces," he says.

better way of serving developmentally disabled adults. The organization believes
that every human deserves to lead a fulfilling life and achieve his or her own
personal potential. RES SUCCESS fully supports its students through specially
designed behavioral modification and community inclusion programs. For more
