William Hines Named CABL Chairman

BATON ROUGE, La., April 29 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- William H. Hines,
managing partner of the Jones Walker Law Firm, has been elected chairman of
the Board of Directors of the Council for A Better Louisiana (CABL). He heads
a full slate of new officers and board members from across the state who will
lead the organization in 2009.  

As CABL embarks upon its 47th year, Hines said the organization will continue
to focus its efforts in the areas of education reform, health care, improving
Louisiana's economy and encouraging sound fiscal policies for state
government. "This is a critical year for Louisiana and CABL will continue to
play a leading role at the state capital in 2009," Hines said. "One of my
personal goals this year is to increase the visibility of CABL in the Greater
New Orleans area and help citizens in our area understand that what happens in
Baton Rouge does have an impact on our region."

Hines has been active in business, civic and philanthropic circles for many
years and has been a leader in economic development efforts in New Orleans. He
was a founder and past chairman of Greater New Orleans, Inc. and served as
chairman of its predecessor organization, MetroVision, for several years. He
is an advisory member of the Business Council of New Orleans and the River
Region and serves on the Board of Directors of the Committee for a Better New
Orleans/Metropolitan Area Committee and the Horizon Initiative.
Professionally, he was selected for inclusion in the publication, The Best
Lawyers in America 2009, in the practice areas of Banking Law, Corporate Law,
International Trade and Finance Law, Project Finance Law and Real Estate Law. 


Hines will serve as chairman of the CABL Board of Directors through December
31, 2009. Robert W. Levy, district attorney for the Third Judicial District
for Lincoln and Union Parishes, has been named chair-elect and will serve as
CABL Chairman in 2010. Levy is currently in his fourth term as district
attorney. He was appointed to the Louisiana Board of Regents by Governor Mike
Foster in 2001 and now serves as secretary of the Regents. Levy is past
president of the Louisiana District Attorneys Association, a member of the
Louisiana Judicial Council, a member of the Board of Directors for Community
Trust Bank and involved with numerous civic organizations.

Other CABL officers for 2009 are Phillip C. Earhart, treasurer, Lake Charles
(Business First Bank); Alice Pecoraro, secretary, Morgan City (retired from
Nicholls State University); and Dr. Ray Authement, immediate-past chairman,
Lafayette (retired President of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette).

region are: John Kallenborn (Louisiana market president, JP Morgan Chase
Bank); Robert W. Brown (managing director, Business Council of New Orleans);
J. Scott Chotin (president, Kaizen Construction); David Conroy (partner, The
Milling Firm); Allen Eskew (president, Eskew + Dumez + Ripple); Anne Milling
(community activist, Women of the Storm); and Gregory N. Rattler, Sr.(senior
banker, JP Morgan Chase Bank).
