NEW YORK, NY, Apr 29 (MARKET WIRE) --
MultiPlan, Inc., the nation's oldest and largest independent PPO network,
is now accepting applications for its 2009 Rural Health Outreach Grant.
The program, now in its 14th year, awards ten hospitals serving rural
areas grants of $3,000 each to help them introduce or expand services,
education, screenings and other endeavors aimed at improving the health
of people in their communities.
"MultiPlan's Rural Health Outreach Grant helps our rural hospitals support
the people in their communities during every stage of life," said Dr. Paul
Goldstein, Corporate Medical Director for MultiPlan. "These grants provide
funding for a diverse array of programs that focus on the specific
healthcare needs of newborns, teens, adults and seniors."
The grant is available to rural hospitals participating in MultiPlan's
PHCS, MultiPlan and/or HealthEOS Networks. An application for the grant is
posted on MultiPlan's website at

applications must be submitted by June 30, 2009. Grant recipients will be
announced in August.

Grant recipients have used this funding to address the unique healthcare
needs of people in their neighborhoods with programs that focus on such
wide-ranging health-related issues as: emergency pediatric services,
