Florida`s Former Chief Medical Officer and Candidate for US Senate weighs in on Specter MIAMI BEACH, Fla.--(Business Wire)-- In response to Senator Arlen Specter`s decision to leave the GOP and join the Democrat Party, Dr. Marion Thorpe, US Senate candidate in Florida, has released the following statement: "The timing of Senator Specter`s move significantly highlights the ever-changing political landscape in our Nation`s capitol. While I cannot say that I am surprised, the move further heightens the need for GOP victory in 2010 in order to maintain balance within the corridors of our American political system. Rightfully, I am alarmed by any semblance of one-Party control in both the Executive and Legislative branches of our Government." Dr. Thorpe readily acknowledges the fact that Specter likely followed his heart on this matter; however, it should be noted that many within Republican circles feel as though Specter left the GOP long before April 28, 2009: States Thorpe, "Categorically, there are more than a few folks in the Republican Party who are happy to see Senator Arlen Specter outwardly wear the true colors that many have speculated were inwardly present for quite some time. The comments that I have received about this matter range from `Does it surprise you? I mean, didn`t he vote for the massive stimulus bill? Good riddance to him` to the more tempered response of `he served his Party well and will be missed." Team Thorpe Dr. Marion D.
