Northwestern College Takes a Break from Classes and Work...to Serve

Annual Day of Prayer & Service tomorrow
ST. PAUL, Minn.--(Business Wire)--
Tomorrow approximately 700 Northwestern College students and staff members will
be taking the day off from classes and work activities to volunteer with more
than 30 organizations around Minneapolis/St. Paul. The activities are part of
the college`s Day of Prayer & Service, an annual event in which students and
employees come together for worship, prayer and an afternoon of serving the
community.

"One of the hallmarks of Northwestern College is our commitment to service,"
said Alan Cureton, Ph.D., president of Northwestern College. "From cleaning up
the banks of the Mississippi River to packing food for starving children in
Haiti, our volunteers will be making a broad yet deep impact tomorrow."

The Day of Prayer & Service features all-campus worship in the morning. In the
afternoon, volunteers have the choice of off-campus service projects or packing
food in Ericksen Center Gym for Haiti`s starving children. Students are strongly
encouraged to volunteer with their academic department or with their special
group (residence hall, athletic team, etc.) if applicable; staff may register
for any open project.

The Northwestern College Day of Prayer & Service has been an annual event since
2000. More than 80 percent of the college`s students, staff and faculty are
expected to participate. Current projects include meal hand-packing for Feed My
Starving Children; painting and general maintenance at The Dwelling Place, an
organization which provides safe housing for families experiencing domestic
abuse; cleanup and maintenance projects at Roseville and Lake Phalen Parks and
Recreation facilities; and more.
