Borden and Reading Is Fundamental Partner to Encourage Reading for Local
Children

Elsie the Cow Helps Keep Kids Motivated and Fueled Up to Be Smart

DALLAS, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Borden Milk and Reading Is Fundamental, Inc.
(RIF) have joined together to promote the joy of reading for local children
and encourage families to fuel up for optimal learning. Borden understands the
importance of providing kids with the essential nutrients needed to develop
sharp minds and will be supporting children's literacy by donating books and
reading materials to schools throughout Texas and Louisiana.

"Developing the ability to read is an essential tool for success, yet less
than 50% of all children under the age of 1 have been read to at home," says
Lynn Croneberger, RIF vice president of development. "We are delighted to
partner with Borden Milk to help spread the joy of reading and help provide
high-quality books to children who need them most."

As part of the ongoing partnership with RIF, Borden will donate 30
high-quality book collections to RIF programs throughout Texas and Louisiana.
Each book collection includes 100 books about health and wellness and features
both English and Spanish titles. In addition, at select sites, Borden will
host special read-a-loud events with Elsie the Cow, and provide healthy eating
tips from local registered dieticians to help kids start smart for a lifetime
of learning.

"Borden is honored to partner with Reading Is Fundamental, the oldest and
largest children and families' nonprofit literacy organization in the United
States," said Rick Beaman, president for Borden. "We are a local dairy and we
want to encourage children across our area to fuel up to be smart with a good
book and Borden milk."

To help kick-start the Borden's campaign with RIF, Borden is also providing
bookmarks featuring Selena Gomez, star of Disney's "Wizards of Waverly Place."
Children across the area will be encouraged to:
-- Eat Breakfast - Fuel up to be smart and have energy, with
nutrient-rich
foods to keep you going all day
-- Read Every Day - Pick a book on your own or have your mom or dad read
        you a story
-- Talk About It - Share your favorite stories with parents, teachers and
        friends
