ORLANDO, FL, May 11 (MARKET WIRE) --
SMC3, a leading provider of content and enabling technology for
transportation rating, announced today that RateWare(R) XL and other SMC3
content now provides supply chain professionals using the SAP(R)
Transportation Management (SAP TM) application dynamic access to
less-than-truckload (LTL) and truckload shipping rates as well as
detailed carrier service and transit time information. In addition, SMC3
announced its RateWare XL 1.0 rating technology is SAP certified as
powered by the SAP NetWeaver(R) technology platform. Through the
certification, SMC3 demonstrated that RateWare XL 1.0 runs successfully
on SAP NetWeaver.
"Content for dynamic freight rating gives shippers the power to make
informed, completely confident service- and cost-based transportation
routing decisions," said Warren Patterson, SMC3 senior vice president of
product strategy and development. "And, because SAP TM and the SAP ERP
application are tightly integrated, shippers can tie freight costs back to
the correct financial accounts."
SAP TM provides a robust transportation management environment that allows
companies to meet the unique delivery requirements of customers while
managing their transportation spend. With SAP TM, shippers and logistics
service providers can automatically route simple to complex international
and domestic orders, collaborate with carriers, rate shipments, accrue and
pay for transportation services, settle transportation charges, coordinate
with the warehouse, ship product, and track every step in the
transportation management process.
"It's our goal to help customers stretch their transportation and IT
dollars," said Brad Gregory, SMC3 director of software alliances. "This
solution delivers extremely accurate shipping rates that are dynamically
updated, which practically eliminates the need for costly rate maintenance
and dramatically reduces the total cost of ownership."
SMC3 is an SAP content partner. The content solution SMC3 developed for
the SAP TM application includes more than 4,000 rate tariffs and the
industry-standard SMC3 CzarLite(R) base rate system. With rating speeds of
over 80,000 rate requests per second, SMC3 RateWare XL is able to rapidly
deliver class or density-based pricing information for LTL and truckload
shipments. Additionally, the content within SMC3 CarrierConnect(TM) XL
enables access to North American points of service and transit time
schedules from select truckload carriers and over 150 leading national,
interregional, regional and niche LTL carriers.
