CAROL STREAM, Ill.--(Business Wire)-- What do AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless have in common, besides being the largest wireless carriers in the United States? They`ve all embraced M2M (machine-to-machine) technology, recognizing its potential for enabling billions of machines around the world to communicate with each other. Each is a sponsor of M2M Connected World 2009 (June 9-12, 2009). "It`s clear with the announcement of the current administration`s smart grid initiatives, that M2M has entered the mainstream conversation. M2M communications can be found in fields ranging from fleet and device management, power distribution, urban planning, and home healthcare; there are few industries that are not touched by these technologies today," says Peggy Smedley, publisher and editorial director of M2M magazine. "T-Mobile is excited to support the M2M Connected World conference. We believe it is a great place where we can all gather and focus with people who are trying to bring M2M solutions to market," says John Horn, national director of M2M, T-Mobile USA. "M2M has practically become ubiquitous; OEMs (original-equipment manufacturers) plan to use M2M technology as a piece of the equation when they develop and field new products. You would be hard pressed to find a device that isn`t communicating with someone or something somewhere; it`s no surprise that these major carriers have become sponsors," adds Smedley. Companies like Exelon, AGCO, RhiZone, Motorola, Verizon Wireless, SJE Rhombus, MedApps, Schlage, Cinterion Wireless Modules, Hill-Rom, Zoombak, Tridium, Pacific Controls, Cooper Industries, Wavecom, and Alarm.com, will be in attendance to participate in and listen to three days of presentations on how companies are seeing definite return on investment from M2M technologies.
