Press Conference Advisory: A New Tourism Campaign to be Unveiled on May 12 by
GPTMC
WHAT: On May 12, 2009, the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing
Corporation (GPTMC) will reveal a brand-new tourism marketing
campaign developed in direct response to the current economic
climate. This campaign, set to launch before the busy summer
travel season, is designed to boost leisure visitation and
overnight hotel occupancy.
The effort will promote Philadelphia through advertising in
print, radio, television, outdoors and online; an aggressive
public relations campaign; and a strong online presence.
At the press conference, which occurs during National Tourism
and Travel Week (May 9-17, 2009), GPTMC President and CEO
Meryl Levitz will discuss the latest trends in the travel
industry and announce new marketing partnerships. Levitz will
unveil the new campaign name, show the creative and explain
the strategy that will help keep the region competitive.
WHO: Meryl Levitz, president & CEO, GPTMC
WHEN: Tuesday, May 12, 2009
10:00-11:00 a.m.
WHERE: Crowne Plaza Philadelphia Hotel
1800 Market Street, Philadelphia, Independence Room (2nd Floor)
Note: Media Parking is available on Market Street, at the
NW corner of 18th and Market, in front of Starbucks across
from hotel.
WHY: GPTMC noticed a shift in travel patterns and spending last
summer and immediately began creating a recessionary strategy
for the leisure tourism segment. "In economic downturns more
marketing is needed -- not less," said GPTMC's Meryl Levitz.
"Therefore, we will debut a new campaign this year and add more
resources to the effort. Rather than tiptoe through 2009 with
trepidation, GPTMC will aggressively promote our region's
unique position as an affordable, accessible and fun
destination."
