ESA's Corona(R) Family of HPLC Detectors, Including the New Corona ultra(TM),
Can Now be Controlled by Waters Empower(R) 2 Chromatography Software

New control option maximizes UHPLC or HPLC productivity via seamless
hardware/software interface; Driver available free of charge to all new and
existing Corona detector customers

CHELMSFORD, Mass., May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Integrating a Corona ultra UHPLC
detector with a Waters ACQUITY UPLC(R) or Alliance(R) HPLC system is easy
thanks to a new Empower 2/Corona detector instrument-control software driver.
ESA Biosciences, Inc., a Magellan Biosciences company and leader in novel HPLC
systems that improve results for pharmaceutical development and QA/QC, life
science, and analytical-chemistry customers worldwide, announced that the
driver for Waters' chromatography control and data-analysis platform is
available free of charge to new and existing customers. The software driver
comes standard with all new Corona detectors. The driver can also be used with
ESA's Corona CAD(R) and Corona Plus detectors. Existing customers can download
a copy by visiting:

"The development of this driver had its genesis in customer labs, since so
many have standardized on both the ESA Corona and Waters platforms. Customers
asked for it, and we were pleased to work with Waters to deliver," said
Jasmine Gruia-Gray, PhD, president of ESA's life science tools business. "Our
product-development goal with the Corona ultra was to make it work seamlessly
with the leading U/HPLC brands to help customers streamline their processes,
improve productivity, and take full advantage of the power and capabilities
inherent in these high-performance systems. The detector is rugged and
designed to fit with the other U/HPLC components anywhere within the stack --
no additional bench space is necessary. Now, with the Empower 2 - Corona
detector instrument control software, customers can also have single-point
system management and control."

Besides excellent sensitivity, the Corona ultra shows consistent inter-analyte
response independent of chemical structure. This breakthrough instrument can
effectively detect a wide diversity of chemical structures and important
classes of molecules -- from small organic molecules, proteins and peptides,
to ions, carbohydrates, lipids, and polymers. The Corona ultra makes methods
development, validation, and transfer fast and easy for a wide range of
life-science research applications and industries: pharmaceutical, chemical,
polymer, food and beverage, biofuel, oils, petrochemical, and more. Suited for
analytical R&D scientists looking for improved throughput and resolution as
well as for those in manufacturing QC requiring real-time quality control,
Corona ultra ensures you see the complete analytical picture. For more
