WSFS Finances Wilmington Organic Recycling Center

WILMINGTON, Del., May 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- WSFS Financial Corporation (Nasdaq/GS: WSFS), the parent company of WSFS Bank, today announced that it is the primary debt lender for the new Wilmington Organic Recycling Center (WORC) being constructed and managed by Peninsula Compost Company, LLC. The WORC will be the largest, state-of-the-art food and yard waste composting facility on the East Coast. On May 5, 2009, the WORC broke ground on the new facility that is expected to open in December 2009. This 28-acre facility will process up to 160,000 tons of food and waste from state, federal and municipal institutions, schools and universities, supermarkets, importers, restaurants and convenience stores, landscapers and contractors and convert it into high value compost and organic soil products. It will reduce the amount of waste currently placed in landfills including the Cherry Island Landfill located nearby the new facility. In addition, 15 new jobs will be added.
