WASHINGTON--(Business Wire)--
Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood will be the keynote speaker as senior
government relations executives from retail companies gather this week for the
National Retail Federation's 74th annual Washington Leadership Conference.

LaHood is scheduled to speak at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Ballroom of the National
Press Club, 529 14th Street NW, Washington, D.C. LaHood is expected to discuss
the Obama Administration's efforts to improve the nation's transportation
infrastructure and its impact on the retail industry. News coverage is invited.
Crews needing setup time should arrive by 12:30 p.m.

In addition, Senator Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, is scheduled to speak at 8:15 a.m. on
Wednesday, also in the National Press Club Ballroom, followed by House Majority
Whip James Clyburn, D-S.C., at 9 a.m. Hatch and Clyburn will discuss pending
legislation that affects the retail industry.

While the LaHood, Hatch and Clyburn events are open to the news media, the
remainder of the two-day conference consists of private meetings that are
closed.

WLC is the premiere legislative event for the retail industry each year,
attended by more than 150 senior retail company government relations executives,
state retail association officials and others. Retailers hear from senior
Administration and congressional officials and participate in dozens of lobbying
meetings on Capitol Hill.

The National Retail Federation is the world's largest retail trade association,
with membership that comprises all retail formats and channels of distribution
including department, specialty, discount, catalog, Internet, independent
stores, chain restaurants, drug stores and grocery stores as well as the
industry's key trading partners of retail goods and services. NRF represents an
industry with more than 1.6 million U.S. retail establishments, more than 24
million employees - about one in five American workers - and 2008 sales of $4.6
trillion. As the industry umbrella group, NRF also represents more than 100
state, national and international retail associations. www.nrf.com.
