HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM, May 11 (MARKET WIRE) --
The Saigon Institute of Technology (SaigonTech) has built a 21st-century
campus in Ho Chi Minh City using Cisco(R) Connected Learning
technologies. As part of the deployment, Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) channel
partner HPT has installed a highly secure wireless networking platform
that connects SaigonTech's various buildings in the city, enabling the
delivery of e-learning and advanced communications tools to its staff and
students.
The new Cisco Connected Learning environment was showcased at the official
opening of SaigonTech's new campus building at Quang Trung Software City,
which was graced by the president of Vietnam, Nguyen Minh Triet. The
network investment is central to SaigonTech's mission to build a
next-generation campus to facilitate information communications technology
education in the country.
"The network plays a very important role in the 21st century education
model that we are pursuing. The advanced network will provide online
e-learning, email and communication tools to students and staff, allowing
them access to programs at school or via the Internet. Cisco and HPT
helped to integrate all of these over a single network, improving the
study environment and also rationalising the management process," said
Nguyen Huu Thanh, chief of IT infrastructure, SaigonTech.
Cisco Connected Learning is a three-step blueprint that helps higher
education institutions make the transition to a student-centered, globally
aware 21st-century learning environment. The approach calls for anytime,
anywhere, highly secure access to all resources via an integrated platform
of wireless, security, unified communications and Cisco Connected Real
Estate technologies.
"SaigonTech is blazing a path for education in the country and has set its
sights on being more than just a higher education institution. It wants to
help raise the level of education for the whole region, particularly for
those people who would not normally consider higher education. Cisco
Connected Learning will provide them with the platform to achieve their
goals, helping to raise the standard of education in the country while
connecting them to resources around the world," said Lee Chiang Toh,
general director, Cisco Vietnam.
With the Cisco Connected Learning platform, SaigonTech has the fundamental
building blocks for 21st-century education: communication, collaboration
and learning. It can provide its staff and students with the latest
technologies and access to dynamic online content. It is also able to
infuse its teaching curriculum with video and rich media and move forward
to building the virtual classroom.
"SaigonTech is committed to excellence in its teaching, research and
business activities. The integrated and unified networking technologies
from Cisco, alongside our diverse facilities, dedicated study and support
staff, and dynamic ethos, means we can now rightfully claim to be a
first-class regional university with a learning environment fit for the
21st century," said Ho Quang Trung, vice chancellor, Estate Management and
Infrastructure, SaigonTech.
