Europe shares extend losses; banks weigh

FRANKFURT May 11 (Reuters) - European shares extended losses in early trade on Monday, with banks taking most points off the main index, while investors were awaiting results by financial heavyweight HSBC (HSBA.L).

At 0745 GMT the FTSEurofirst 300 .FTEU3 index of top European shares was down 1 percent at 857.52 points.

The DJ STOXX Banks Index .S7XP was down 1.1 percent.

Deutsche Bank DBGKn.DE, Commerzbank (CBKG.DE) and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS.L) were down 1.3-5.6 percent. (Reporting by Christoph Steitz)
