Price Chopper is Deploying ParAccel`s Scalable Analytic Appliance, an Integrated
Data Warehouse Solution Based on EMC CLARiiON
ORLANDO, Fla.--(Business Wire)--
ParAccel, Inc., EMC Velocity² partner and provider of the ParAccel Analytic
Database, a high-speed, low-effort, massively parallel (MPP) columnar database
management system (DBMS) for data warehousing and analytics, today announced
that Price Chopper, a Golub Corporation company and leading regional grocer with
more than 100 outlets, has selected the ParAccel Analytic Database as its
next-generation data warehouse platform.

Price Chopper purchased the ParAccel Scalable Analytic Appliance, an integrated
data warehouse solution that incorporates an EMC CLARiiON networked storage
system and leverages EMC Navisphere Management Suite to provide fast,
highly-scalable analytic computing with enterprise-class manageability and
availability. The ParAccel Scalable Analytic Appliance also interoperates with
EMC RecoverPoint replication software to provide Price Chopper with continuous
data protection and remote replication for any-point-in-time recovery and
defense against data loss or corruption to ensure full data integrity and
minimize risk of data loss.

Price Chopper`s implementation consolidates multiple data marts from several
different databases and server platforms onto a single instance of the ParAccel
Analytic Database. The consolidation will enhance data consistency and business
insights while reducing data redundancy across Price Chopper`s many different
business lines.

In its extensive proof concept (POC), Price Chopper measured performance,
simplicity and interoperability with its existing Business Intelligence
environment and emphasized system reliability and availability. According to Sam
Wagar, Golub Corporation manager of information integration, ParAccel`s
collaboration and proven integration with EMC CLARiiON networked storage
solutions was a key factor in Price Chopper selecting the Scalable Analytic
Appliance. "Our goal is to consolidate our data as we increase our analytic
performance, but we must also maintain our high standards for system reliability
and availability," Wagar said. "The ParAccel Scalable Analytic Appliance, with
its high performance and deep EMC integration gives us the speed and enterprise
readiness we require."

"Our goal is to deliver a single, consolidated view of the data to the
individual application platforms we service so we can continue to utilize our
best-of-breed point solutions," Wagar added. "By integrating the data on the
back end, inside the Scalable Analytic Appliance, we can expedite our business
intelligence and reporting capabilities and streamline our processes that
generate reports and analyses."

ParAccel Completes the Scalable Analytic Appliance Pilot Program

ParAccel, who is involved in the EMC Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence
Competency Center, also announced it has successfully concluded the Scalable
Analytic Appliance pilot program, resulting in the sale to Price Chopper as well
as other customers. The appliance is based on ParAccel`s extremely fast
columnar-MPP DBMS, EMC CLARiiON networked storage systems and industry standard
servers such as those available from Dell, HP, IBM and Sun. The ParAccel
Scalable Analytic Appliance provides high performance and enterprise-class
manageability and availability for organizations that must contend with
exploding data volumes.

"EMC and ParAccel are focused on delivering enterprise ready solutions that help
companies like Price Chopper to achieve high levels of analytic performance as
they manage infrastructure costs," said EMC`s Chuck Hollis, EMC Vice President,
Global Marketing Chief Technology Officer. "The power of EMC CLARiiON, EMC
Navisphere and EMC RecoverPoint combined with the ParAccel Analytic Database,
create a compelling combination of products for organizations that want
appliance simplicity with enterprise manageability and availability."

"We are pleased that Price Chopper selected the ParAccel Scalable Analytic
Appliance for their next-generation data warehouse platform," said ParAccel
President and CEO David Ehrlich. "Our unique, integrated approach allows
customers to leverage the tools and data reliability of EMC with the speed and
scalability of ParAccel to create a robust, cost-effective solution for their
analytic applications that are both mission-critical and data intensive."
