LAS VEGAS, May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- SMC Networks, a leading provider of

markets, will display and demonstrate the newest members of its family of
network infrastructure solutions at Interop Las Vegas 2009 (booth #969) in the
Mandalay Bay Convention Center from May 17-21, 2009.  The new solutions join a
growing family of networking products that deliver high-performance, robust
feature sets, industry-leading value, and "green" designs that are expanding
SMC deployments from their legacy at the core of SMB networks, to an
increasing share of edge deployments in enterprise networks.

In addition to demonstrating the capabilities of the company's latest
solutions for the HPC, enterprise, hospitality, and SMB markets, SMC is also
making a number of product announcements including the launch of a new
hospitality solution based upon VDSL2 technology, the shipment of its new,
versatile Managed Services Platform and the "green" redesign of its SMB
switching products.

SMC Delivers Performance for HPC Environments and at the Edge of Enterprise
Networks

SMC will be demonstrating the performance and management capabilities of its
high-end product lines which deliver full 10G wire-speed performance to
address the requirement for high data throughput speeds and enterprise-class
functionality in demanding high-performance computing and enterprise
environments.

Demonstrations will include:

    --  10G virtualization and performance;
    --  10G aggregation of servers;
    --  Edge switch deployment or Top-of-Rack management utilizing an
        eco-friendly, lower power switch infrastructure;
    --  Centralized network operations center (NOC) for network management of
        multiple locations utilizing SMC's new Managed Services Platform.




SMC VDSL2 Hospitality Solution Enables Broadband Networking over Existing
Telephone Wires

To enable the cost-effective delivery of broadband services in multi-unit
environments, SMC announced and will demonstrate the TigerAccess(TM) Extended
Ethernet Switch (SMC7824M/VSW) and TigerAccess Extended Ethernet CPE
(SMC7801A/VCP), its newest networking solution for the hospitality industry. 
An ideal complete solution for multi-unit environments such as hotels and
office buildings, the TigerAccess VDSL2 Extended Ethernet Solution, enables
the delivery of high-bandwidth services such as HDTV streaming and Video on
Demand over existing category 1, 2 or 3 wiring.

Demonstrations will include:

    --  In-room management and delivery of Video-on-Demand and high-speed
        connectivity to the room utilizing VDSL2 technology;
    --  Centralized network management utilizing SMC's new Managed Services
        Platform;
    --  Affordable, reliable Ethernet switching to every room.




SMC Demonstrates Remote Management and PoE Capabilities, Announces New Green
Design for SMB Line

SMC announced that it has integrated new "green" designs into its SMB-targeted
EZ Switch(TM) product line which will reduce power consumption by as much as
45 percent through the use of single-chip architectures and intelligent ports
which are able to detect cable lengths and automatically reduce the power for
data transmission over shorter distances.  The redesigned products, which will
become available later this quarter, will also utilize new silicon processes
to shrink the size of the devices.

Demonstrations will include:

    --  Deployment of PoE-enabled wireless access points and Voice-over-IP
        technology;
    --  Remote management of multiple networks utilizing SMC's new Managed
        Services Platform;
    --  Green switching.
