The Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington Welcomes Prime

ROCKVILLE, Md., May 18 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Jewish Community
Relations Council (JCRC) of Greater Washington praises both President Obama
and Prime Minister Netanyahu for reaffirming the enduring values and intimate
friendship that exists between the United States of America and the State of
Israel. Israel has been a loyal ally and, as the only democracy in the Middle
East, is a bastion of freedom in a volatile region.

The close alliance between the sole global super power and Israel is a deep
one, built on shared principles that go back over 60 years. With the same
democratic institutions such as a free press and an independent judiciary, the
U.S. and Israel share the same basic worldview. Antipathy towards terrorism,
the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction by rogue regimes, and the
spread of radical fundamentalism, is shared by both peoples and both

The JCRC welcomes President Obama's pledge to do whatever it takes to stop
Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. The Iranian regime poses an existential
threat to all countries in the Middle East, and a nuclear Iran would threaten
American national security and world stability. We must not allow nuclear
weapons to fall into the hands of those who have publicly threatened to
annihilate another sovereign nation-state.

Israel desires nothing more than to live in peace with all its neighbors, and
has shown itself willing to make far reaching concessions to do so. We are
confident that any differences that might exist between the two
administrations are healthy variations that exist between friends, and can
only serve to ultimately strengthen the relationship. We thank President Obama

the State of Israel - something that is of vital interest to the United
