After Nearly 2 Weeks, Firefighter Robert Lopez Returns Home; Doctors Predict
Full Recovery
SHERMAN OAKS, Calif.--(Business Wire)--
The last of the three firefighters burned on May 6, 2009 while battling the
Jesusita wildfire in Santa Barbara was discharged from the Grossman Burn Center
today.

Ventura County Fire Department Firefighter Robert Lopez underwent two successful
surgeries which required skin grafts to his upper extremities and back. With
physical therapy and follow-up care, his lead surgeon, Dr. Peter H. Grossman,
predicts Lopez will recover fully and be able to resume active duty.

Dr. Grossman stated, "We owe Mr. Lopez and all firefighters an enormous debt of
gratitude for their bravery and their selfless dedication to protecting lives
and property. It has been a privilege to treat and care for him."

Lopez, 44, sustained second and third degree burns on his face, ears, arms and
back while protecting a home that was overcome by flames. Also injured in the
incident and treated at the Grossman Burn Center, were Captain Ron Topolinski
and Captain Brian Bulger, both of whom have already been released.

Founded in 1969 by Dr. A. Richard Grossman and now under the direction of Dr.
Peter H. Grossman, the Grossman Burn Center is a plastic surgery-based facility
specializing in the comprehensive treatment of burns - from acute care and
reconstruction, to rehabilitation and psychological counseling.

The Grossman Burn Center is the largest surgical burn practice in the Western
United States with facilities in Sherman Oaks, CA, Santa Ana, CA and
Bakersfield, CA.A new Grossman Burn Center in Lafayette, LA is scheduled to open
later this year, and additional centers are planned throughout the country.
