CAMPBELL, Calif. & AUSTIN, Texas--(Business Wire)--
The Society for Information Display (SID), the leading global organization
dedicated to the advancement of electronic display technology, and
DisplaySearch, the worldwide leader in display market research, today announced
the final agenda for its upcoming Business Conference, which will be held on
Monday June 1, during the 47th annual SID International Symposium, Seminar and
Exhibition, dubbed Display Week 2009, in San Antonio, Texas.

"After years of double digit growth, flat panel display revenues stalled in 2008
and will fall dramatically in 2009, so it is more important than ever to examine
the commercialization process, which provides the seeds for future industry
growth," noted Paul Semenza, senior vice president of DisplaySearch. "This
year`s Business Conference will feature an impressive line-up of presentations
and roundtable discussions among the industry`s best and brightest surrounding
strategies for success in display commercialization."

The Business Conference keynote presentations will be from Thomas Holder,
investment director for Intel Capital on "Win/Win Strategic Investing in
Displays: What I`ve Learned," and Mary Lou Jepsen, founder and CEO of Pixel Qi
on "Making the Case: The Display Industry`s Chance to Evolve in the Downturn."
Following the keynotes, DisplaySearch`s Paul Semenza will provide an industry
outlook in "Display Market Overview: Growth After the Market Resets?"

Business Conference attendees will also hear case studies on the challenges and
opportunities of commercialization of display technologies as well as different
business models used in the industry. These sessions include the following:

Crossing the Chasm: Perspectives on Commercialization

The display business has been an active area for technology startups, but many
have found building a successful business around display technology to be a
challenge. What can be learned from the record number of companies bringing new
technologies to market?

* "Display start-ups: An elusive success story," Mark Willner, managing partner,
nFlexion
* "DLP: The (rocky) road to microdisplay & beyond," Tom Winter, product
engineering manager, Texas Instruments
* "Why competing against TFT-LCD is so difficult," David Barnes, vice president
of strategic analysis, DisplaySearch

Intellectual Property: Patents, Licensing, Paths to Market

* "How to Grow a Business without Making Anything?" Joel Pollack, senior vice
president of strategic sales and marketing, Nouvoyance, Inc.
* "Patent Licensing and Strategic Patent Planning" Rel Ambrozy, partner,
Intellectual Property Practice Group, McKenna Long & Aldridge

Emerging Display Technologies that will Lead the Future Display Industry

* Jennifer Colegrove, Ph.D., director of display technologies, DisplaySearch

TV Market Update

For the first time, the SID Business Conference will also feature a series of
executive roundtables, providing an interactive discussion on the hottest topics
at this year`s show, including:

Competing with TFT-LCD: OLED, MEMS and Other Alternatives

Representatives from OLED and MEMS-based display developers will discuss the
challenges and opportunities of "innovating around" TFT-LCD, by developing
display technologies with the promise of some combination of lower manufacturing
cost and higher performance.

* James Tassone, CFO, UniPixel
* Tony Zona, CEO, Pixtronix
* Jim Cathey, vice president, business development, Qualcomm MEMs Technologies
* Sidney Rosenblatt, executive vice president/chief financial officer, Universal
Display Corporation
* William Feehery, president, OLEDs, DuPont Displays

Enhancing TFT-LCD: Touch and Other Features

A key aspect to display-related commercialization is building on the "platform"
of existing display technologies, while focusing on adding value and
functionality to the display. Company representatives from touch screen and
other feature companies will discuss the issues involved in participating in the
display value chain.

* In Jae Chung, chief technology officer, LG Displays
* Lenny Engelhardt, vice president, business development, N-trig Ltd.

* Steven Abramovich, vice president of sales, Elo Touch Systems

Creating New Applications: Pico-projectors, Flexible and e-Paper Displays

One possible entry path for display commercialization is to develop technologies
that enable applications or products that were once deemed impossible. Examples
include flexible displays and pico-projectors, allowing large images to be
produced from a handheld device, as well as low-power display technologies,
which enable the development of electronic readers.

* Nick Colaneri, director, Flexible Display Center at Arizona State University
* Al Davis, senior director of sales and marketing, Kent Displays
* Russell Hannigan, director, product management, consumer projection displays,
Microvision
* Anthony Slack, vice president business development, Liquavista

TV Roundtable: Chasing the Biggest Market

What are the challenges for technologies entering the TV market that, after a
window of opportunity around the transition from analog CRT, is showing signs of
consolidation? Can new technologies gain a foothold in this market?

* Bruce Berkoff, chairman, LCD TV Association
* Barry Young, founder and managing director, OLED Association
* Jim Palumbo, president, Plasma Display Coalition
