e-Discovery Manager Reduces Costs and Complexity for Internal, Legal and
Regulatory Investigations; Complements Exchange Server 2010
LOS ANGELES--(Business Wire)--
Quest Software, Inc., (Nasdaq: QSFT) today unveiled plans to launch Quest
e-Discovery Manager in the third quarter of 2009. Quest e-Discovery Manager is
designed to help IT, HR, records managers and legal investigators scope,
collect, review and export electronically stored information (ESI) in house,
without having to outsource to costly third-party legal consultants. With its
sophisticated tagging, filtering, search and advanced project management
capabilities, Quest e-Discovery Manager allows organizations to efficiently
address legal, regulatory and internal investigations while reducing the cost
and complexity of searching for, collecting and processing data.

"Implementing an appropriate e-Discovery capability is critical to the long-term
viability of any organization, particularly for larger ones facing a greater
chance of being involved in civil litigation," said Mike Osterman, founder of
Osterman Research. "e-Discovery best practices include several key elements,
starting with management recognition of the need to be ready for it, developing
a set of corporate policies for archiving and compliance, and implementing the
right technologies to manage corporate data properly."

IT departments often find themselves burdened with constant e-Discovery requests
- typically beginning with a need to collect old e-mails - costing weeks of
effort and causing major distraction from other priority projects. Increasingly
high-volumes of litigation requests underscore IT and legal needs to quickly and
cost-effectively retrieve electronic evidence, wherever it resides. Tightly
aligned with the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM), Quest e-Discovery
Manager collects data using a single interface from online production Exchange
servers, offline Exchange database (EDB) files and Quest Archive Manager,
allowing information in multiple silos to be gathered quickly and with less
complexity through one central platform. As they review the content,
investigators can quickly apply tags to mark items for additional review, as
well as protect privileged content, cull non-relevant information, perform
in-depth analysis, and flag relevant content for export. This efficient
processing de-duplicates data upfront, minimizing the cost of reviewing the
thousands of messages collected in a typical case.

Quest e-Discovery Manager complements the recently announced Microsoft Exchange
Server 2010 by providing a comprehensive e-Discovery platform supporting
evidence collection across mixed environments of Exchange Server 2003, 2007 and
2010, as well as offline EDBs. It integrates with Quest Archive Manager for
discovery of e-mail, instant messaging and BlackBerry communications - all from
a single interface.

"As the sheer volume of electronic information continues to grow, it's
increasingly difficult for organizations to respond to discovery requests. Quest
manages more than 32 million Exchange mailboxes and understands the challenges
facing IT departments," said David Sengupta, director of product management for
Unified Communications, Quest Software. "Customers have been asking us for Quest
e-Discovery Manager. It was designed to help both legal teams and IT
administrators worldwide quickly and accurately respond to discovery requests."

Live demonstrations of Quest e-Discovery Manager are available at the Quest
Software booth 808, at Tech Ed 2009. For more information, please register and
attend the Quest e-Discovery Virtual Expo on July 8, when Quest e-Discovery
Manager will be shown in more detail. For additional product details, please
