2009 Sport Chalet U.S. Open of Bodyboarding Competition Kicks Off May 23rd in
Huntington Beach, California

LOS ANGELES, May 18, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sport Chalet, Inc. (Nasdaq:SPCHA)
(Nasdaq:SPCHB) and the United States Bodyboard Association (USBA) are kicking
off the 2009 Bodyglove USBA Grand Slam Tour at the Sport Chalet U.S. Open of
Bodyboarding in Huntington Beach, California, on May 23rd. Sport Chalet was a
sponsor in the 2008 USBA tour and continues to ride the waves this year with the
USBA.

Bodyboarding fans are invited to meet some of the world's best riders including
Dave and Jeff Hubbard, Jonah and Jacob Romero, Spencer Skipper, Jason Bitzer,
Eddie Solomon, Ross McBride, Jeremy Wright and many more at a kick-off autograph
signing event on May 22nd, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at the Huntington Beach
Sport Chalet, located at 16242 Beach Boulevard.

In addition to the professional competition, amateurs wishing to compete in the
various amateur divisions can pick up a registration form for the event at the
Huntington Beach Sport Chalet location.

The USBA is an official partner of the International Bodyboarding Association
World Tour. The Sport Chalet U.S. Open event will provide valuable points,
qualifying riders for the USBA Grand Slam Tour. The top eight USBA riders will
earn a slot into the 2010 IBA Pipeline Pro event. More information on the Sport
