Further to the announcement on 12 May 2009 of the appointment of Mr. Richard D.
Pilnik to the Board of Directors of Elan Corporation, plc ("Elan"), effective 1
June 2009, it is hereby notified that: 

1      Mr. Pilnik is currently a director of Diamedica Inc. a publicly quoted
company; 

2      Mr. Pilnik has not been a director of any other publicly quoted company
in the previous five years; 

3      Mr. Pilnik has no other disclosures to make in accordance with Rule 6.6.7
of the Listing Rules of the Irish Stock Exchange and        Rule 9.6.13 of the
