SAN JOSE, Calif. and BERLIN, May 18, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- DSP Group,
Inc.(tm) (Nasdaq:DSPG), a leading global provider of wireless chipset solutions
for converged communications at home, announced today that DOSCH&AMAND, a
world-leading design center for premium DECT solutions, will base its CAT-iq(tm)
2.0 certification equipment on DSP Group's system-on-a-chip (SoC) technology.
The DECT Forum chose DOSCH&AMAND as its sole partner for, and supplier of,
CAT-iq 2.0 certification test equipment for use by members of the industry
association within the framework of its worldwide CAT-iq 2.0 Certification
Program.
"Our decision to choose DSP Group's technology for the CAT-iq 2.0 tester was an
easy one," said Dirk Kelbch, CTO of DOSCH&AMAND. "DSP Group has already proven
itself as a world leader in DECT, and is now leading the way for CAT-iq. We are
confident that our utilization of DSP Group's technology for the tester will
further advance this rapidly-evolving standard across the industry."
DOSCH&AMAND's decision strengthens DSP Group's growing leadership in CAT-iq, a
global technology for broadband home connectivity. DSP Group platforms were used
as the basis for CAT-iq 1.0 "golden unit" platforms, and powered the first
certified CAT-iq products featuring high-definition wideband voice.
"Leveraging our market leadership in DECT, DSP Group has invested significant
resources in developing and shaping the CAT-iq standard, including the completed
full CAT-iq 1.0 and 2.0 profiles," said Oz Zimerman, Corporate VP of Marketing
of DSP Group. "Our commitment to the technology is shown by DSP Group's
selection of CAT-iq as the interoperability standard for our diverse DECT
product portfolio. By offering our in-house communications protocol and call
control software stacks, together with a full software reference, we give DSP
Group's customers a head start for supporting CAT-iq," Zimerman continued.
"CAT-iq is also a key component of DSP Group's future strategy as reflected by
our development of those parts of the evolving CAT-iq 2.1 and 3.0 standards that
have already been defined."
