UPDATE 1-JJB Sports names Lawrence Coppock FD

LONDON, May 18 (Reuters) - British sportswear retailer JJB Sports Plc (JJB.L) said on Monday it had appointed Lawrence Coppock as finance director and Colin Tranter as director of retail and product.

The firm also said Peter Williams, an executive director since January, will leave the group at the end of May, following the anticipated implementation of JJB's company voluntary arrangement (CVA) proposals.

The CVA will see JJB settle the claims of landlords of about 140 closed stores and move from quarterly to monthly rent payments on about 250 stores, easing the pressure on cash flow.

JJB will announce its full-year results on Thursday.

At 1542 GMT shares in the retailer were down 0.5 pence at 25.75 pence.
