** Validus Holdings Ltd (VR.N) said it raised its hostile bid for IPC Holdings Ltd IPCR.O to about $1.69 billion in its latest attempt to wrestle the Bermuda reinsurer away from a deal with rival Max Capital Group Ltd MXGL.O.

** A Grupo Mexico SAB de CV (GMEXICOB.MX) unit formalized its $1.55 billion offer for bankrupt U.S. copper miner Asarco by filing its own proposal for Asarco's reorganization in a Texas court. [ID:nN15303604]

** Volkswagen (VOWG.DE) has called off a meeting planned for Wednesday to discuss merger talks with Porsche (PSHG_p.DE), a source close to VW Chairman Ferdinand Piech told Reuters, adding talks would not resume until Porsche's financial situation was clear. [ID:nWEA3112]
