Pop Milano chairman to meet Mutuel on accords
MILAN |
MILAN May 18 (Reuters) - The new chairman of Italian Banca Popolare di Milano (PMII.MI) said on Monday he would meet next week with shareholder Credit Mutuel to renew talks on an industrial partnership.
"We hope to move ahead with a new season of accords," Massimo Ponzellini, elected to the job last month, told reporters on the margins of a business event.
Credit Mutuel, a French bank, has a 2 percent stake in Pop Milano, a mid-tier cooperative bank. Its representative on Pop Milano's board has said he backed possible accords.
Shares in Pop Milano were up 2.2 percent at 4.595 euros at 1133 GMT, in line with the DJ Stoxx banks index .SX7P.
Ponzellini is also chairman of Italy's biggest builder, Impregilo SpA (IPGI.MI). (Reporting by Danilo Masoni; Writing by Ian Simpson; Editing by Dan Lalor)
