CARLSBAD, CA, May 19 (MARKET WIRE) --
What can be more exciting than participating in a wildlife experience,
especially the new 30,000 sq. ft. interactive exhibit called Globeology
at The Wildlife Experience in Parker, CO? Globeology provides a journey
to many compelling places that help maintain the planet's ecological
equilibrium and features a variety of twenty-two handcrafted Steel Art
Trees(TM) by NatureMaker, located in Carlsbad, CA.
With over twenty-five years of experience creating ultra-realistic,
one-of-a-kind tree designs -- each epitomizing the highest level of visual
and textural authenticity -- Gary Hanick, President of NatureMaker(R), was
delighted to design trees that would bring to life a variety of unique
planetary biomes from a tropical forest to the African Savanna to the
Sonoran Desert.
The Globeology adventure begins high in the canopy of a Tropical
Rainforest with four amazingly realistic twenty-nine foot Banyan trees,
handcrafted by NatureMaker, each with giant buttressed trunks and a
massive continuous canopy of limbs, branches, and foliage. Soaring above
the forest floor along a rope bridge, adventurers enter the canopy
environment where birds and forest sounds saturate this biome in concert
with the roar of a fourteen-foot waterfall cascading to the forest floor.
Adventurers follow the pathway to a Temperate Deciduous Forest biome where
NatureMaker provided the beautiful, hand-carved bark and colorful leaves
of the 16 ft. x 18 ft. tall Oaks, Sycamore and Chestnut trees. The pathway
leads on to the freezing Arctic, and then to the barren heat of the
Sonoran Desert where NatureMaker designed three intricately detailed
Saguaro Cacti and a 10 ft. tall Palo Verde. Visitors continue into the
Asian lowlands that give way to inaccessible habitats of the Himalayas
soaring over their heads.
On the African Savanna, NatureMaker created a giant Baobab tree that
younger visitors can enter and play an interactive game that challenges
them to become the racing cheetah as it hunts impala. Other trees include
two smaller Acacia trees, one cladding a structural column, and a 14' tall
Sausage tree looking over the plains that feed the amazing herds of the
Savanna.
NatureMaker designed, engineered, and handcrafted the twenty-two trees for
Globeology over a period of fifteen months. Production of the trees took
place in NatureMaker's Studio in Carlsbad, CA. Prior to installation, the
trees were dismantled and shipped to the museum as hundreds of
telescopically interlocking, finished components. Up to eight sculptors
and scenic painters were on site for over a month to stage, reassemble,
artistically detail and integrate the trees into the exhibit. The seamless
beauty of each tree represents the sensitivity and skill of the artist.
Founded in 1983 by naturalist/sculptor, Bennett Abrams and Gary Hanick,
NatureMaker's vision and purpose is in sync with Globeology and The
Wildlife Experience. A synthesis of engineering, art and a passion to
immerse the viewer into the intricacies and life of the tree, each
arboreal sculpture is as unique as Nature itself. To Abrams and Hanick,
every one of their creations represent an opportunity to "capture" a
fleeting moment in Ecology as it is now or as we remember it, preserving
what may not exist tomorrow.
Globeology, opening on May 23, 2009, takes a visitor on a rare journey
